Buy footballs for the Homeless World Cup
There are 1 billion people without real homes in the world today – and often the problems causing this situation affect the most vulnerable. Being homeless has terrible effects not only on a person's safety and health, but also on their sense of dignity and self-respect.
The Homeless World Cup is an annual, international football tournament which brings together teams of people who are homeless and excluded from all over the world, to take part in a once in a lifetime opportunity to represent their country by playing football – and change their lives forever.
Research shows that 77% of the players involved in the Homeless World Cup change their lives for the better; no longer using drugs and alcohol, moving into homes, jobs, education, training, repairing relationships and becoming coaches or players with semi-pro teams. It has triggered and supports national football programmes for homeless people in over 60 nations working with over 100 000 players since the beginning in 2003.
